It's always a good sign when a place is a go-to for both a quick bite and a sit-down family dinner, and Balan Dosa on Sindhu Bhavan Road seems to have mastered this. I've heard a lot about this place, and it's clear why it's a staple for so many. First things first, let's talk about the food. The reviews don't lie—this place is all about the butter and the cheese, and I am not complaining! I went in with a craving for something a bit different and decided to try their famous Gotala Dosa. It's an absolute flavor bomb. It’s like they've taken the essence of a street-style pav bhaji and stuffed it into a crispy, buttery dosa. A lot of people call out this "fusion" style, and while some may argue about "authenticity," there's no denying that it's a delicious, Ahmedabad-tailored twist. For those who want something more classic, the Mysore Masala Dosa is a solid choice. The podi idli also gets a lot of love, and I can see why—it’s the perfect blend of spice and texture. The sambhar and chutneys are also on point, fresh and flavorful without being overly spicy. The ambiance is pretty standard for a family-friendly restaurant, clean and well-lit. It can get a bit noisy during peak hours, it's the kind of energetic buzz you expect from a popular place. The service is prompt and the staffs are humble and helpful. Now, for a bit of a reality check. Balan Dosa is definitely a place to indulge. The sheer amount of butter and cheese means it's not exactly a "diet food," but let's be honest, you're not going for dosa for a light meal anyway. Also, it's not the cheapest place around. The prices are a bit on the higher side, but given the quality, quantity, and the generous use of ingredients, it feels justified. Parking can be a bit tricky, you have to park quiet far from the place. It is not easy to find parking nearby. Overall, Balan Dosa is a must-visit for any dosa lover. It’s a place that has managed to take a traditional South Indian dish and give it a local, mouthwatering twist that keeps people coming back for more. This place is worth a visit for a truly buttery, cheesy, and unforgettable dosa experience.
Food tasted petty 😋 delicious , also specially that balan ghotala dosa & pineapple halwa, kaju anjeer shake tasted very good.
Most delicious Dosa I had!! Chatnis were awesome too! Sambhar was Really good!! Even Bhaji pau at South indian resturant was Amazing!! Must try if you love Dosa n more!
We visited Balan Dosa for some South Indian dishes. We ordered Medu Wada, Mysore Masala Dosa, Cheese Mysore Dosa, and Masala Dosa. The stuffing in the dosas was average and could be improved. The coconut chutney was good and fresh, but the tomato chutney was not up to the mark and had a stale smell, which was disappointing. The ambience is nice with a lively environment, making it a good place to sit and enjoy food with friends or family. However, parking can be an issue on weekends due to the crowd. Overall, it’s a decent place to try, but food consistency needs some attention.
If you’re a fan of soulful South Indian food, **Balan Dosa** is an absolute must-visit! From the moment we stepped inside, the place had this warm, welcoming vibe that made us feel right at home. The friendly staff and the intoxicating aroma of spices swirling in the air only added to the magic. But it didn’t stop there. We tried their **Podi Idli**, which had a beautiful soft texture paired with a dash of spice, and the **Gotala Dosa**, which was wonderfully crisp and full of character. The **Bhaji Dosa** was another highlight—perfectly cooked with a mix of rich flavours that took it to the next level. And let’s not forget the **Sambhar**. Thick, rich, and just the right amount of comforting, it was hands down some of the best I’ve had in ages. When food, ambience, and service align this perfectly, it’s rare to find. **Balan Dosa** has definitely earned a permanent spot on my favourites list. If you’re craving food that feels like a warm hug from the inside, this place is where you need to be. Highly recommend!
