Great taste in their Dose. Idli is good but can be improved. Service is fast compared to the crowd here.
Loved every bite of the benne thatte idli and benne masala dosa I had there, just heavenly. The coffee was also just perfect. Highly recommend if you are around the area.
Restaurant Review – Breakfast Parcel Visited today for a takeaway and tried Benne Masala Dosa and Thatte Idly. Here are my observations: • Price: Reasonable. • Taste: Good, satisfying flavors. • Packing & Delivery: Well-packed and prompt. • Hygiene: Needs improvement—none of the food preparers or servers were wearing gloves or head caps. If they improve hygiene, this could be one of the best breakfast spots near Chandra Layout.
I have tried first time Davanagere benne dosa. The dosa was a bit thick, outside was crunchy and inside was soft. The masala was inside without any spices, which was good. We also tried open dosa , which I didn't like much because of the podi masala. The paddu was good and recommended.
⭐ Taste The dosa is very soft in the center and crispy on the edges. It is cooked with a lot of butter (benne), which gives a rich and slightly sweet flavor. Usually served with spicy coconut chutney and potato palya(which is delicious) The combination of buttery dosa and spicy chutney gives a balanced and delicious taste. ⭐ Texture Thick and fluffy compared to normal dosa. Has small holes on the surface, which makes it absorb butter well. Slightly crispy outside but very soft inside. ⭐ Ambience & Experience Most Davangere benne dose hotels are small darshini-style shops with simple seating. The focus is mainly on taste rather than ambience. Self service. ⭐ Price Generally affordable: around ₹70–₹120 per plate depending on the place. ⭐ Pros ✔ Rich buttery taste ✔ Soft and fluffy texture ✔ Very filling breakfast ⭐ Cons ✖ Too much butter for some people ✖ Some places may lack hygiene or good ambience ✖ Authentic taste varies between restaurants
