Wow.. what a fascinating story behind this place..!! This theme-based restaurant is inspired by Satyajit Ray’s cult classic “Bhooter Raja Dilo Bor” (which means “The Ghost King Granted a Wish”). It’s a legendary movie and a huge favorite among Bengalis! The entire restaurant follows the “bhoot” (ghost) and King theme — complete with ghost statues, King’s Palace vibe and decor matching the movie’s vibe. There are two sections: • Ground Floor – Bhoot Raja Section: Dark-themed (as the name suggests). However, it had a faint basement-like smell, so we decided to check the floor above. • First Floor – King’s Section: Decorated like a royal palace with white walls and chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Much better ambience — we sat here. We ordered: • Pujor Thali • Chitol Muithya • Ilish Macher Matha Diye Kachu Shak • Gandhoraj Doier Ghoj The thali was more than sufficient for two people. We also ordered some rice and a couple of extra dishes to go along. The food was really good — especially the mutton and chingri! However, the Aam Panna was a big miss. Even after asking for a replacement, the new one tasted just as bad. Ambience and service were both good overall. But… hygiene needs serious attention! The wash basin area wasn’t clean, and my wife mentioned that the ground floor washroom was terrible — it was stinking badly and made her almost puke. So, team BRDB — you have a job on your hands! Overall: 3.5/5
