My self BIPLAB MONDAL. I studied ITI-Machinistof 2years and 1 year additional Diploma in Mechanical provided by DON BOSCO TECHNICAL INSTITUTE college has very good infrastructure and it has a well maintain premises. College has study atmosphere , the college lab and classrooms are well maintained ,the staff are very supporting and the Teachers are well qualified The academic study in DBTI is great the teachers are very supportive,they support at every stages of college. They provide very good knowledge which is useful for education. The teachers are provide the practical knowledge. The best thing about the college is placement , college provide the placement which is the best thing I like. College has tied up with many reputed companies ,many of the student every year get place into the company's. Campus life is great, college organise various event, competitions, debate. Every teaching staff participate in this event. It is very enjoyed and fun full activities. In my view it is the best college for ITI study, it has all the facilities which are needed for best education.

Don Bosco Technical Institute, Kolkata was established in January 1965, for Catholic students and is owned and run by the Salesians of Don Bosco. It is a minority institution. However, the Institute admits youth of other religion too. It is affiliated to the National Council Vocational Training (NCVT), New Delhi, Capital Goods Skill Council (CGSC), Sector skill Council and council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi. Besides this, Institute’s Own Diploma is offered in Mechanical Engineering Technician and Electronics Engineering Technician. The aim of the Institute is to impart sound Moral and Technical Training by facilitating in the young habits of piety, virtue, discipline, hard work and self-reliance during the years of their training. Thus preparing them to enter the industry as skilled craftsmen, thereby serving the country and fellow human beings. The method of education followed in the school is the system taught and practice by St. John Bosco. It is based on Reason, Religion and Loving Kindness. The medium of instruction is English.

A highly organised and well equipped Technical Institute which imparts efficient training and moreover is headed/ guided by the most competent set of officials.

I took admission at Don Bosco Technical Institute (DBTI) in January 2024 for the Motor Mechanic course, which was presented as a one-year, job-oriented program consisting of six months of classroom study and six months of training at a service centre. Unfortunately, my experience did not meet the claims made by the institute. After completing six months of classroom training, my trainer, Mr. Sandip Prasad Tamoli, advised me to enroll in the VGTAP program, stating that a Tata Motors certificate alone would not be sufficient for career growth and that VGTAP would be more beneficial. Based on this verbal guidance, I agreed. As a result, instead of being sent for Tata Motors service-centre training, I was shifted to VGTAP. It has now been more than one year, yet the Tata Motors examination has still not been conducted. When asked, students are informed that the exam will be conducted with a new batch, resulting in a delay of at least eight additional months. Regarding fees, the Tata Motors course required an admission fee of ₹15,000 and a monthly fee of ₹1,700 for 10 months. The VGTAP program, which ran for six months, included three months of study at DBTI and three months of training at a VW Group service centre. Although no separate VGTAP admission fee was charged, I was instructed—based on verbal assurance by Mr. Sandip Prasad Tamoli and approval from the DBTI Father—to pay a monthly fee of ₹1,800 for vgtap course for the next 6 month, which included an additional ₹100 added to the original ₹1,700 fee which I was paying for tata motors course , for the six-month VGTAP duration. Students are also required to prepare project files similar to school-level assignments, which involves significant additional expenses. Admission is practical only for those who already have strong financial backing. I successfully completed the VGTAP course, passed the training, and received the certificate. However, no job placement support was provided. I did not receive employment at PPS Volkswagen or Global Skoda. Volkswagen has also shifted operations from Topsia to Madhyamgram, further limiting opportunities. My total expenditure exceeded ₹35,000, with no meaningful return. Another serious concern is that the institute collects original 10th or 12th certificates at the time of admission. If a student discontinues the course midway, the institute refuses to return the original certificates unless full fees are paid, which is highly unethical. The administrative experience is also poor. The office staff member commonly referred to as “Saint Sir” works extremely slowly and behaves unprofessionally, often showing irritation during fee collection. The DBTI Father displays an arrogant and unapproachable attitude toward students and act like a cm of kolkata. The institute frequently emphasizes strict adherence to rules for students; however, the administration itself does not consistently follow the same standards. The institute enforces a rigid attendance policy under which students are denied entry if they arrive late. Absences are penalized at ₹100 per day during the first month, ₹200 per day during the second month, and ₹300 per day from the third month onward. These fines are imposed without consideration of genuine health or medical issues. Final Assessment: Despite being marketed as a job-oriented institute, DBTI offers minimal placement support and poor transparency. This situation appears consistent across courses, including Technician, RAC, and Electrician programs. Prospective students are strongly advised to verify all claims before taking admission. Taking admission here means wasting valuable time and money, with serious long-term consequences for one’s career. This institute operates like a trap from which it is very difficult to exit.
