Visited the place after being referred to by a local and also after seeing their high rating. The restaurant is a small once with two levels, one the AC section and the other Non AC section. The food tasted extremely good, especially their Biryani. Only thing that was missing was a quick service. They took a lot of time to serve which was a minor setback. The prices were also on the higher side. Parking is also an issue. All in all, food quality and taste wise, no complaints.
Staff behaviour at Arsalan Taratala was extremely disappointing, and the overall experience did not match the high prices charged. The visit felt like a complete waste of money and time, leaving no intention to return. Service and staff behavior: The staff were inattentive and unprofessional; they had to be called repeatedly even for basic things like taking the order and pouring water. Despite the restaurant not being crowded, the response time was very slow, and there was no sense of hospitality or courtesy from the servers. Food quality issues: Complimentary salad was completely forgotten, which shows a lack of attention to standard service practices. The biriyani served for around ₹444 came with a very small piece of meat, and even after changing the plate twice, a proper piece was not provided, making the pricing feel unjustified. Hygiene and safety concerns: Finding a mosquito in the mutton stew is a serious hygiene issue and raises questions about kitchen cleanliness and food handling standards. For a bill totaling around ₹1485, such lapses in hygiene are unacceptable and damage trust in the restaurant. Overall experience: The combination of rude or indifferent staff, poor portion quality, missing complimentary items, and hygiene problems made the visit highly unsatisfactory. Before charging customers premium prices, the restaurant needs to improve both food quality and hospitality; in the present state, the experience feels like a total waste of money and mood.
TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED! Never expected Arsalan to be that bad. Food was average & the service was just pathetic. Visited on 4th of October ( durga puja ekadashi) and had a horrible experience. They were taking orders , but were unable to serve those. We ordered simple butter tandoori rotis and two chicken gravy items , they took almost one hour to serve. We constantly asked what was the problem they have , but no one responded , nobody clarifed the exact reason for such long delay. The tables were not full , the place was not much crowded , but still they were unable to serve. Like us, many other people were pissed and some people even left the place after waiting for like 30-40 minutes. They even delayed the bills , some people next to our table finished their food and asked for the bill , they even made them wait 30mins just for the bill. I mean what the hell is this !? We called the staffs , we asked them. They behaved very unprofessional. Particularly a staff named "Dharmendra" was behaving very unprofessional. We tried to talk to him , to know the reason of the delay. He seemed unbothered. He didn't even reply. He just didn't care about anything. We tried to call him and talk to him several times while waiting , he never responded. Not even once. He seemed so arrogant. Never had such bad experience in any restaurant. This is the last time for me at Arsalan.
Okay, so... I know Arsalan is a staple and it's super famous but there were a lot of things I was unhappy with. 1. There was a huge wait time, which is expected. But there was a lot of choas even after we were asked to go upstairs to be seated. I feel like the coordination could make for a better experience. 2. We were very quick to order only for 3 different people (one of which was the hotel manager) to come and tell us that they didn't have 2 of the 3 dishes that we'd ordered. Why let us order if it's going to take time? So my friend and I had to switch orders 10 minutes into this. 3. The order they said they had, which was a paneer starter, came last. Almost 15 minutes after we finished our biryanis. Which was very disappointing. 4. I ordered the veg biryani. I went with the expectation that my veg biryani would naturally come with the potato. But it didn't. They told us that in the veg biryani, it comes up as cut up potato as opposed to the usual big one. So, i ordered one on the side to satiated the one thing I actually went there for. 5. The biryani was okay but I've had better biryani in Kolkata. So, maybe this was an effect of a hype that this place just didn't live upto or i should have gone with no expectations. 6. Our drinks which were simple lemon sodas also came after we were half way through our biryani. Again, really bad service, bad timing on every single dish we ordered. That said, if you're hungry and are okay to wait, can try. But there are better restaurants there.
We recently visited this resturant and unfortunately The overall experience was quite disappointing. The staff seemed extremely lethargic and uninterested. It was hard to get their attention, and even simple requests took a long time to be addressed. The Chicken Garlic Butter Masala with Garlic Naan was absolutely delicious. The curry was rich, flavorful, and well balanced. We had mutton biryani too and that was quite disappointing, mutton was juicy and succulent but The rice was overpoweringly filled with elaichi (cardamom) aroma, which didn’t blend well with the mutton at all. This was our whole experience and I hope next time it taste better.
