The Quality of South Indian dishes are authentic as the chefs are of south origin. Very tasty items.
Have to stand and eat but dahi vada is delicious and idli is not as soft but tasted well with sambhar, coconut chutney and orange chutney.
A very old takeaway serving authentic South Indian fare in Santoshpur. Soft, fluffy and steaming idli, crispy dosa and tasty medu vada. They serve uttapam too. Their packaging is very good using banana plant leaves and tissue paper that retains the taste. I enjoy being here and this is in my must-do list
Very popular South Indian eatery. Crispy vadas. A wide selection of dosas. Spongy idlis. The spicy red chutney is a must taste. The best thing about the place is the friendly amicable behaviour of the owner and staff. A must visit
If you’re a fan of South Indian food and happen to be around Santoshpur, New Om Shakti is definitely worth checking out. The food here stands out for its great taste and consistent quality. From crispy dosas to flavourful idlis and vadas, the menu offers a wide range of dishes, making it easy to find something for every craving. Another big plus is that the place is very pocket-friendly, especially considering the portion size and taste. Its prominent location also makes it easy to spot and convenient for quick visits. That said, there are a couple of drawbacks. The biggest one is the lack of a proper seating arrangement. While they do offer takeaway service, South Indian food truly tastes best when served hot and fresh, straight off the pan. The packaging is decent but could be improved, especially to retain heat and texture during takeaway. Overall, New Om Shakti is a great option for delicious, affordable South Indian food. If you’re nearby and don’t mind limited seating—or plan to eat quickly—it’s definitely a place worth trying.
