It was said that if you can't find a book here, you won't find it in whole India. A three storied building filled with books. You can go to the 2nd floor too, just ask the staffs, then carefully climb on a very old and dangerous stairs. 2nd floor is more like a library, you won't find any staff there, you have to find books from century old bookcases. Bookstore filled with rare books and old calcutta charm.

I spent almost 5 hours on college Street and this was probably my favorite place. Two floors of books, huge variety and surprising depth on many subjects. Go out on the balcony to get a view 2nd floor view of the area.

Paradise for book lovers but it's cramped for space. Better if you know which book you are looking for. Can ask the stuff to guide you to exact shelfs. One thing to note, discount is in the range 15-20% depending on the publisher. Mostly new books.

Dasgupta & Co. is a gem for book lovers and it is one of Kolkata’s oldest bookstores. With wooden shelves packed with books from floor to ceiling, it’s a treasure trove for all types of readers. Their selection is vast, covering rare academic texts, reference materials, and timeless classics – ideal for students and general readers alike. The staff are friendly, and knowledgeable, making it easy to find what you need. Visiting Dasgupta & Co. is like stepping into a piece of Kolkata’s literary history. Overall it was a very humbling experience. Highly recommended!!

Oldest book shop in College street. Lot of academic and general reading books are available. Owner was extremely helpful. Good staff and comfortable inside the shop. The biggest problem is that the books are not segregated and kept as per the genre. So you need to spend a lot of time searching for your books. After all some of us go to a shop to be free with a lot of books all by ourselves and enjoy being there. I loved being there
